Gender affirming care is more than just appointments
Obtaining affirming care when you are trans is not easy in Alabama. Hormones are banned until a person is 19 years of age, there are very few providers to work with and the stigma surrounding services is formidable. That is why we at WAWC are dedicated to full, inclusive care - either by telemed, in person, or with wrap around support as needed. This fund is specifically to support our trans health services - physical and mental - by providing additional funding as needed for ride shares, medications, mental health referred services or other needs. As the only Alabama clinic with an openly gender non-conforming physician on staff, we will do everything possible to support the community with dignity and respect.
